Digital Life
This course allows students to explore their online skills and take these skills to the next level. Students learn how to use a multitude of online tools and explore up-to-date tech tools to assist in your home, school, and after work life.
Accounting 1
In Accounting 1, students learn the basics of accounting. Students use accounting software used by businesses, and through simulations, students apply their knowledge of accounting to real-world situations. By completing this course, students will have the basic understanding needed to succeed in future accounting courses.
College Accounting
College Accounting is a course taught at a first-year college level and is recommended for students interested in business, finance, marketing, or accounting. Students use computerized accounting systems to expand the skills learned in Accounting 1, focusing on corporate accounting.
Advanced Accounting Topics
In this course, students learn about topics including departmentalized accounting and corporate accounting. They use software that complements the text and completes a variety of computerized activities that simulate real-world applications.
Introduction to Business
In this introductory course, students receive an overview of various aspects of business operations. Students are introduced to accounting, marketing, purchasing, inventory control, advertising, managing money, banking, and office technology.
Desktop Publishing
This course teaches students how to produce logos, advertisements, newsletters, brochures, flyers and other business forms using Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign Desktop Publishing software. An emphasis is placed on understanding and applying graphic design principles, and students use digital cameras and digital scanners to produce high-quality digital publications.
Software Applications
This course provides students with the skills and techniques needed to be successful in postsecondary education and in their career. Students will become accomplished in spreadsheets, presentation, word processing, and more through projects, demonstrations, and collaborations. Additionally, students learn about software integration, internet use, and future technology trends.
Business Communications
In this course, students learn and practice the 21st-century skills that prepare them for college and the workforce. Students research, organize and present information through speaking and writing. This course also focuses on tools needed to build social and business relationships including non-verbal communications and active listening.
Business Management & Entrepreneurship
This course develops students’ skills for the world of business through activities involving successfully operating and managing a business. Students create business plans outlining entrepreneurial businesses of their choices.
Financial Services 1
Students explore the principles of banking and credit in the United States and learn about procedures, operations, and trends in the banking industry. They examine credit functions, the securities insurance industry, gain insight into issues faced by the industry, and study brokerage firms. Students will gain knowledge on the role of a securities firm in our economy and on the impact technology has on the finance sectors.
Financial Services 2
Students study international finance and financial planning. Topics studied include foreign trade, international monetary systems, foreign exchange rates and markets, international financial markets, international banking, and the multinational corporation. Additionally, students learn how to create a financial plan including saving, investing, borrowing, risk management (insurance), retirement and estate planning.
Marketing 1
Marketing 1 teaches students the fundamentals of marketing through group projects, discussions and presentations. Students learn about product/service management, promotion and selling, target marketing and the marketing mix. Students develop a promotional portfolio for a business that they create.
Marketing 2
In this course, students continue to explore the functions of marketing such as distribution, packaging, pricing, and marketing information management through experience gained in the school store, market research for local employers, and conducting a SWOT analysis for businesses. Students gain skills including operations administration, leadership and business management.
Money Sense
This financial literacy course teaches students about money management. Topics covered include earning income, spending, saving and investing, borrowing and protecting against risk. To demonstrate their skills, students design household, and personal budgets, maintain checking and savings accounts and evaluate and understand insurance and taxes.
